The best design
solutions result from clearly established objectives, reached by
consensus at the outset, and used to inform and check the design
process. These objectives should broadly address social, economic,
environmental and cultural concerns.
The design for the
Lake Manitou Community Center stems from such a
collaboration. The goal was to provide a space for gathering
during the summer and fall months that had a minimal environmental
impact. The
design blurs the line between interior and exterior.
Ecological
initiatives include a composting toilet, photo-voltaic panels and an
environmentally sensitive material palette.
