The proposed expansion introduces a strip that crosses the existing building at the exisiting reception area. The restaurant would be preserved as the heart of the building. The proposed addition is compact, which will lower construction costs, lower operating and maintenance costs, reduce heating costs, reduce necessary roof maintenance, increase staff efficiency, provide easier access to all parts of the building, increase guest comfort and is an appropriate scale for the community. 

The expansion of the Lodge improves the Lodge's connection with nature and the community. All rooms have a view to the lake and access to sunlight.
